MyBookWorth is free to use. This page explains who pays for it, and what that does and does not buy.
Display advertising
Pages on this site carry third-party display advertising, sold programmatically through advertising partners. Those partners, and the vendors authorised to sell our inventory, are listed publicly in our ads.txt file, which is the industry-standard way of declaring who may legitimately sell advertising on a domain.
Advertisements are selected by those partners, not by us. We do not review individual ads before they appear, and an ad appearing on this site is not an endorsement of the advertiser or its product. Advertising is kept visually distinct from search results and from our own editorial content; we do not publish sponsored articles, paid reviews, or advertising dressed up as a guide.
Advertising vendors may use cookies and similar identifiers to select ads, limit how often you see the same one, and measure performance. They are only used if you agree to them. The cookie banner asks on your first visit, refusing is as simple as accepting, and the “Cookie settings” link in the footer lets you change your answer at any time. Section 6 of our Privacy Policy lists the cookies involved and the extra opt-outs available to you, including how to switch off personalised Google advertising.
Affiliate links
Some outbound links on this site are affiliate links, tracked through the impact.com network. If you follow one and go on to buy something, the merchant may pay us a small commission. You never pay more because of it — the commission comes out of the merchant’s margin, not out of your price.
Outbound listing links carry the rel="nofollow" attribute, so we are not passing search-engine ranking signals to the sites we link to. We also link to plenty of sites that earn us nothing, because the point of a link on this site is to let you verify a price at its source.
What this does not buy
This is the part that matters most, so it is stated plainly:
- No seller can pay to appear in search results. Ranking comes from how closely a listing matches your search. There is no paid placement, no promoted listing, and no boosting.
- Commission does not affect ordering. Whether a result links to a site we earn from is not an input to the ranking and never has been.
- We do not remove unflattering results. Listings are not filtered to favour a commercial partner.
- Advertisers get no access to your searches. We do not pass your query text to advertising partners.
If we ever introduce paid placement, it will be labelled as such on the result itself, and this page will say so before it launches.
Why we disclose this
A site that tells you what things are worth while quietly earning a cut of what you buy has an obvious conflict of interest. Disclosing it is required of us — by EU consumer protection law, by the advertising networks we work with, and by the ordinary expectation that you should know who is paying — but it is also the only way the independence claim on our About page means anything.
